With over 30 years experience of training, I offer general & specialist dog training solutions including; behaviour modification, obedience, and show training.
I train all breeds, but specialise in working breeds, having trained, shown, bred, judged and competed (show and schutzhund) with Dobermann since the 80s. I no longer compete, but I am able to share my experience and training methods to help you get the most from your canine companion.
My wife and I founded and run an animal welfare charity. I have experience with rescue dogs, imports and puppies having been a responsible breeder of Dobermann for many years until more recent years.
My training is a reward based system, with clear communication allowing the dog to learn self control.
This can be applied to produce a variety of outcomes - from general obedience to specialised training such as working/competing and showing, where the dog clearly understands what is expected of it and enjoys their work with you.
Assessments, one to one sessions and board and train solutions (your dog stays with us in our family home) are available and tailored to suit you and your dog.

We contacted David as we had problems with our 2 golden retrievers who did not want to get in the car. After meeting David & his wife Heidi and feeling very comfortable with them we felt it would be easier for the dogs to board with them in their home to do the work with them. We were sent daily updates & videos which were so helpful as we could see how David was training them. Is was amazing to see them getting in & out of his car, something we had been unable to do!! David also visited us 3 times to make sure things were still going well when they came back to us. We now have 2 dogs happy to get in our car knowing they are going for a good run. Davids approach is very calming and the dogs were happy in his company & in his house. We also know that if we have any other problems we can contact David which is very reassuring for us.

I contacted David as my 18 month old German Shepherd was very reactive to other dogs, birds and any movement outside. David came to do a consultation and we decided it would be best suited if Zeus spent two weeks on a board and train programme. On the day I dropped Zeus off, David invited me in to his house and we went through the plans, naturally I was nervous about leaving Zeus behind but I was impressed by the way he treated Zeus and allowed him to sleep in the house and socialise with his family. I received daily video and text updates, the videos were extremely beneficial to continuing the training once Zeus came home. David was very flexible with drop off times, he spent a couple of hours with the whole family going through everything and advised how to continue the training at home. 4 weeks have now passed and Zeus is almost like a new dog, he is still the same cheeky pup but is so much calmer in the house and has improved vastly, we have had several walks with no reactivity at all, we still have the occasional moment but with the training David gave me, I know how to deal with it. After dealing with a few dog trainers before and having no joy, we found David and he has done excellent work. I would recommend David to anyone, he is the most knowledgable and friendly man and doesn’t pass any judgement. Thank you David!

David is quite unique. He has a quiet and gentle approach to training. He can build a relationship with a dog that allows both it and the handler to develop confidence and reach superb levels of ability.
